Chinese, Japanese coast guards face off again at Senkakus

Two Chinese coast guard vessels came within 12 miles of the disputed Senkaku Islands early Tuesday morning, continuing a weekslong pattern of foreign activity in the waters around Japan.

The two ships approached a Japanese fishing boat, prompting the Japan Coast Guard to dispatch patrol vessels to intercept and protect the fishing boat, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said at a news conference Tuesday.
