Tencent’s music streaming platform QQ Music is testing a new metaverse feature called Music Zone, Chinese media outlet Tech Planet reported on Monday. Music Zone offers virtual cyberspace for users where they can partake in social activities, decorate and customize their homes, and create a playlist for guests that can be activated via a virtual player. Tencent has created a social empire with its platforms, WeChat and QQ, and the introduction of this new social metaverse will provide QQ Music with the ability to compete with the social features of rival NetEase Music.
